promethia_tenk: (metaphors)

Elisi and Owlboy and I were just talking about how much more metaphorically dense this season is than past ones. It's like every episode screams 'READ ME AS AN ALLEGORY' where in, say, season five, most of the non-Moff episodes might carry some thematic relevance and, of course, character stuff, but were not necessarily doing the same kind of symbolic work as the arc episodes. I do love it to pieces and I feel like whatever comes in the finale is going to be very, very thoroughly set up on a symbolic level (though big parts of fandom will complain that it came out of nowhere and makes no sense).

But it's like the entire season is TWoRS. It's brilliant and mad and addictive and nothing else on television is doing anything close to it. But it does get just a tad overwhelming after awhile, and if you're not committed to parsing it, I can see how it might all feel pretty disjointed.

Anyway, nope, I don't think you've left anything major out ; )

That would all be fabulous, and I'm SO looking forward to seeing how the Moff ties it all together - surely SOME of these aspects have to come into play? The answers can't just come out of left-field?
I think that, alone, would shock me. There is no way, absolutely no way that the finale is not gonna be heavily tied into all these things. Though, I think sometimes with big Moff episodes, it does take a little while before you come to realize just how tied in it all is. How I dread and love that moment of whiplash when you know the answers and don't realize how well they work yet *g*
