notes: So, such_heights has been trying to persuade me for aaaaages to make a Doctor Who vid by myself. But for some reason - because the show is so beautiful, because it gives me so many Feelings and Thoughts and I love it too much and there's so many wonderful vids already out there - I was too scared and sceptical. But then, one day weeks and weeks ago, I got this song in my head and it wouldn't leave. It was so *obviously* Rory's voice, that I couldn't believe that somebody more talented than me hadn't already made it. But nobody had. So I did.

This is a vid about Rory and Amy. The Boy Who Waited and The Girl Who Waited. It's a vid about how they are both truly unique and wonderful and brilliant and badass. It's about how they wait for each other, and how they fight for each other, and how they care for each other, in every possible reality. It's about how Amy drags Rory out into Time and Space, and he doesn't mind if she doesn't mind. It's about how they can be epic universe-saving warriors and ridiculous flaily dorkfaces and a regular domestic couple, and none of that is contradictory. And she doesn't mind if he doesn't mind. It's about how they help each other to shine even more brightly than they could do alone. It's about how they catch each other when they fall.

I hadn't even read your notes prior to watching the video, but It's about how they can be epic universe-saving warriors and ridiculous flaily dorkfaces and a regular domestic couple, and none of that is contradictory. is a more eloquent version of what precisely I took from this video. And if nothing else, it drove home just about how fantastically equal and perfect for each other these two are.

I can't get the sound to work on the download. :( I tried on both divx player and VLC, and I just get a static crack and that's it. On divx, the file won't even play. Though my version of the player is a million years old.

Well, what versions were you using? Did you use any new codecs? I haven't had any problems with vids on this machine before.

Aw YAY, thank you! I'm so glad all of that came across. Was a little worried as I was writing it that I was describing a vid I hadn't actually made...but that is very reassuring :-) THE PONDS ARE THE BEST.

I have version 1.1.5 of VLC....and I'm afraid I have no idea what a codec is :-( I am totally untechnical. Enlighten me and I'll see if I can help?

They're magic things people use when encoding (exporting) vids. Mostly on PCs. I'll just keep digging.

Hmmm. I have a Mac....this is my first vid made on Final Cut Express as opposed to iMovie, but I exported it the same way as all my others, as a DivX. I just went back to FCE and checked - there is a codec tab amongst the DivX Advanced export settings, but I didn't change anything in it.

WHY, TECHNOLOGY, WHY DO YOU HATE ME?

I have a Mac too, which is why I usually ignore codecs. Upgrading VLC didn't work, but it worked fine once I put in headphones, so I have no idea what was going on.
